Industrial Engineering Internship Programs

About the Program
The Industrial Engineering Internship offers an in-depth, vigorous, industrial experience that complements the engineering expertise gained in the classroom. The program is available for M.S. and Ph.D. students. The primary objectives of this Industrial Internship program for the intern are to:

  • Provide BME graduate students exposure to the industrial workplace.
  • Permit BME graduate students an opportunity to apply their engineering knowledge and expertise to a variety of industrial projects.
  • Provide BME graduate students substantial exposure working with industrial work groups, including administrators, engineers, and technicians.

These objectives are not traditional classroom experiences. Rather, they emphasize the practical side of the engineering problem solving process. They are achieved not only by observing, but also by actually working on projects in the industrial environment.

The goal of the internship program is to provide students with the training in biology, medical science, physical science, and engineering to solve complex biological and medical problems that occur in industry. Two types of Industrial Engineering Internships are offered: one for master's degree candidates and another for Ph.D. degree candidates.

Additional details are contained in the Biomedical Engineering Handbook (PDF) and Intellectual Data and Patents, or by contacting the director.
