Art Design System

(NSF funded)

Description of Project

The aim of our project is to create specialized head and arm-mounted art design systems that will aid people with cerebral palsy and hydrocephaly to create works of art.  The client has limited mobility and requests devices that may be mounted to her head and her wrist to help draw simple art designs, such as squiggles.  Both devices will utilize infrared (IR) eyeblink sensor technology in order to turn the rotating cam on or off, so that the client may power the devices manually on her own.

The devices will assist our client and other artists like her at the Passion Works Studio in reaching their maximum artistic potential. This Studio, located near Ohio University, is a well-established program that assists adults with developmental disabilities to create works of art.

For more information about the Passion Works Studio or to learn more about the artists there, please visit their website: PassionWorks
