Orthodontic Wire Mechanical System Tester
This is a device that uses sensors to measure the forces and
moments in all three axes applied by an orthodontic archwire. This
device will be built to replace an existing machine used at the
University of Connecticut Health Center in studies on forces
applied to teeth. The device features a user-friendly interface to
replace all manual adjustment, which will be achieved through the
use of stepper motors and linear slides. This update of an
existing piece of equipment will improve accuracy, precision, and
repeatability of testing and will have a user console that will
not require previous knowledge of machine elements.
