Vanessa is a wife and mother of two adorable little boys. She is passionate about science and strengthening the pipeline of underrepresented individuals to successful research careers. She conducted her thesis work exploring signaling mechanisms underlying bone healing after fracture repair in Archana Sanjay’s lab at UConn Health. She then trained in hematology in Diane Krause’s lab at the Yale School of Medicine, where she still holds a faculty appointment. Her independent research interests include hematopoiesis, the bone marrow microenvironment, and intercellular signaling mechanisms that regulate progenitor cell fate. In her spare time, she enjoys live music, gardening and star gazing.
